Hi there, I’m Jessica... aka BarefootFitJess!
I’m a gal who was raised in small town Alabama, moved & lived in bigger cities for over a decade, met & married my soulmate, and after kids we moved back to our hometown (we grew up within minutes of each other, but we never really knew each other, crazy, right?!). I have a Master’s of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis, and my early career was dedicated to working with the population of those with developmental disabilities, but not long after we had our first baby I shifted my focus to working mainly with other women, especially moms, who wanted support to live their healthiest life & positively influence their families’ lives as well. Creating the life you want to live comes down to behavior change… so, BarefootFitJess Coaching was born, and my passion for serving others in the holistic behavioral health space continues to grow & deepen every year. My husband is a musician, and he also owns his own electrical contracting business, so we’re both passionate about serving others the way we choose to & living our lives by design.
The premature arrival of our twin boys are what led us away from Music City and back to slower lake life. We lived in the NICU for 2 months, but that’s a whole other experience to share later! We continued on our spiritual journey (individually & together), and I started noticing the disconnect many people around us had between their mental & physical health practices. In July 2017, our faith was put to the test when our daughter Nora was stillborn at 32 weeks gestation. It was the hardest thing we’ve been through, but we have been able to thrive through it. After several weeks of extreme lows, I started refocusing on my own health again, but many of the practices I had been successful with before weren’t working for me anymore. I started searching for more and was connected to Registered Dietitians, Integrative Medical Doctors, Master Herbalists, Board Certified Naturopathic Doctors, etc… which took me in a more holistic direction for my own health AND has greatly shifted the way I serve my clients & my community.
I am super passionate about sharing what I know, continuing to learn, and providing lasting options for those who want to continue learning WITH me! For me… being barefoot is more than just not wearing anything on your feet (however, being physically barefoot inside & outside has many benefits + I workout barefoot myself), it also symbolizes being more balanced, more free, more vulnerable, stronger in foundation, more open, more grounded, and more aware of all things in life.
